Reya at a Glance
Reya partnered with Gelato to launch a custom Arbitrum rollup built for perpetual trading at scale. Unlike out-of-the-box deployments, ReyaChain was engineered for sub-100 millisecond block times and achieved more than 400 Mgas/s throughput in testing. These results highlight the flexibility of Arbitrum Orbit chains to support specialized, high-performance trading workloads.
With Gelato’s sequencer, paymaster, and bundler, Reya has built one of the fastest perpetual trading environments on Ethereum. The system helps reduce stale pricing, lowers MEV leakage for LPs by over 90%, and establishes the foundation for the first based rollup perpetual exchange that combines Ethereum neutrality with high-frequency performance.
Sub-100 Millisecond Blocks for Advanced Trading
Perpetual markets depend on speed. Delays create arbitrage opportunities that raise costs for LPs and erode returns.
Gelato’s custom sequencer enables block production in under 100ms. Oracles update in near real time, helping to reduce stale pricing and limiting MEV leakage for liquidity providers.
For traders, sub-100ms blocks deliver near-instant execution and a user experience that feels comparable to centralized venues, while remaining fully onchain.
Bigger Blocks, Higher Throughput
During volatility, crypto markets often surge, overwhelming standard rollup configurations. Gas costs rise, oracle updates lag, and execution quality suffers just when traders need stability most.
Gelato and Reya customized block sizing to absorb spikes in order flow. In tests, Reya processed throughput above 400 Mgas/s, demonstrating how optimized Orbit chains can scale to meet the demands of perpetual trading without degrading performance.
This helps keep execution stable for both traders and liquidity providers even in turbulent conditions.
Custom Infrastructure for Perpetual Trading
Perpetual exchanges need infrastructure tuned to derivatives markets. Together with Gelato, Reya integrated:
Transaction lanes that prioritize order cancels over taker trades, helping prevent harmful flow.
Enshrined liquidations and order matching that reduce reliance on offchain keepers by embedding core logic in the protocol layer.
Gasless UX powered by Gelato’s Paymaster and Bundler, which abstract fees so users can trade without the friction of managing gas.
These features give Reya the technical foundation to compete with centralized venues while staying aligned with Ethereum.
Toward the First Based Perpetual Rollup
With Gelato’s support, Reya is moving toward a based rollup design. ReyaChain will become Ethereum's trading layer where Ethereum validators handle sequencing directly. This approach removes centralized sequencer risk, strengthens censorship resistance, and makes Reya an extension of Ethereum itself.
For users, this delivers:
Fast execution with millisecond preconfirmations.
Fair ordering enforced by Ethereum validators.
Native Composability with L1 liquidity, including the ability to build synchronous hedging strategies across venues.
This model positions Reya as Ethereum for traders: pairing high-frequency performance with Ethereum-native trust and neutrality.
From EVM to Enshrined App Logic
As Ethereum's trading layer, Reya's long-term vision is to move beyond general-purpose EVM into a purpose-built execution environment. Core perpetual functions (order matching, liquidation, and price updates) will be enshrined at the base layer.
This delivers:
Native performance through enshrined order matching, liquidations, and price updates
Developer flexibility through EVM compatibility for custom strategies
Trust through zero-knowledge proofs that verify every state transition
Bootstrapping with Gelato Infrastructure
Launching a perpetual exchange requires more than speed. Reya bootstrapped its trading engine with Gelato’s Web3 Functions, Paymaster, and Bundler.
This enabled:
Gasless trading that lowers entry barriers.
Oracle updates executed onchain with second-level latency.Faster time-to-market by avoiding the need for custom backend automation.
Why It Matters
ReyaChain shows how custom rollup infrastructure can make Ethereum the foundation for professional trading:
Sub-100ms block times → tighter spreads and fairer markets.
>400 Mgas/s throughput → resilience during volatility.
Transaction lanes and enshrined logic → more reliable liquidations and matching.
Based rollup design → Ethereum alignment without centralization.
Gasless UX → smoother onboarding for new users.
For Reya, this creates a foundation for the fastest and most resilient perpetual DEX on Ethereum. For Gelato, it demonstrates that custom infrastructure, not out-of-the-box rollups, powers the next wave of financial applications. For the ecosystem, it shows how Arbitrum chains can be adapted to deliver trading performance tailored to specific markets.
